Professor Ken Reid, OBE, has been working in the field of school attendance, truancy and behaviour for the last forty years. He began his teaching career at a secondary modern school in Berkshire before taking up a new post in charge of less able and difficult pupils at a school in Oxfordshire. He subsequently moved into higher education where he obtained research appointments at the Universities of Cardiff and Leicester before becoming Reader in Education at Swansea Metropolitan University where he rose to the position of Deputy Vice Chancellor.
